Peening

Typically Peening is thousands of tiny steel balls impinging on a material’s surface at high speeds causing permanent dimples that trap the stresses into the material’s subsurface. This imbedded stress in turn helps to inhibit any surface cracks to develop or to propagate into the base material resulting in extended life of a mechanical part.

The pulse water jet can also produce compressive residual stress comparable to shot peening using only water thereby eliminating costly blasting media and ingress of foreign material problems.
